The BGG podcast is back for Season 3!
The Brown Girl's Guide to Politics Podcast is all about amplifying the voices of women who are too often forgotten in media coverage. Host A’shanti Gholar speaks to Andrea Mercado, Executive Director of New Florida Majority, an organization that aims to center federal, state and local legislative conversations and policies around those who have historically been kept at the margins. A’shanti is also joined by Lorella Praeli, President of Community Change Action and Vice President of Community Change, an organization working to make sure that communities of color and immigrant communities have the resources and power they need to thrive. They discuss the importance of community work, voter engagement, and activism in the world of COVID-19.
In the BGG to Politics blog, A’shanti created a space for women of color to learn about the current state of women in politics, to support others breaking into the political sphere, and to celebrate incredible people changing the course of the country. A’shanti founded the blog in 2018 and teamed up with Wonder Media Network in 2019 to extend her platform to audio.
