Video: Netroots Nation 2018 Panel "This Is What Democracy Should Look Like: 2018 & Beyond&q

I had the privilege of sitting on a panel at Netroots Nation this year called This Is What Democracy Should Look Like: 2018 & Beyond. The panel (Atima Omara, Carol McDonald, Madalene Mielke, Carlos Mark Vera) focuses on the work being done/that needs to be done to ensure race and gender equity not only in elected office, but in politics and movement organization work.

My fellow panelists and I had a "spirited" time talking about how do we overall make politics more diverse and inclusive for people of color of all ages, backgrounds, and religions. This work is hard (you can read my blog on Being the Only Brown Girl in the Room: Sometimes Hard Truths Need to Be Said about my personal struggles) and while we are making progress, there is still much work to be done. I am honored to do this work along side some amazing people who make politics and this world a better place.
