This year marks the 50th anniversary of Shirley Chisholm's candidacy to become President of the United States. Chisholm already made history as the first Black woman to be elected to Congress before she embarked on her next trailblazing journey. Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm paved the way by being "unbought and unbossed" and paved the way for all of the Black women politicians running for Congress and president.
