BHM 2019: The Woman That Started it All - Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Shirley Chisholm's candidacy to become President of the United States. Chisholm already made history as the first Black woman to be elected to Congress before she embarked on her next trailblazing journey. Fun fact: Ayanna Pressley, who became the first Black woman elected to Congress in Massachusetts in 2018, now resides in Chisholm's old office in Congress.
